Do you have a sudden burst of nostalgia for Zapspot games but have been frantically googling how to run these games to no avail? Well, you're in the right place.

I've heard that Zapspot games contain viruses. Should I still run them?

If you're cautious about getting viruses, I recommend running the files in a virtual machine. Furthermore, make sure that the virtual machine is "leak proof"-that is, make sure that the virtual machine is set up in a manner where no viruses can infect your main operating system. While I can't teach you how to set up a virtual machine for this purpose here, there are abundant online resources that can assist you.

The process of running Zapspot games is the same regardless of whether or not you use a virtual machine.

Required files

You will need the following files:

Step 1

Boot up latest.exe - you will be greeted to a brief installer and a message from Zapspot. Wait for a few seconds and the application will work perfectly. The game "My House" is installed by default.

Step 2

Exit Zapspot, then boot up the exe file of the game you want to play. You will be greeted to...an endless loading screen and the program crashing.

This is where we need to get creative.

Step 3

Navigate to C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\ZapSpot\Games and note the folders in this directory. While the names of these folders are incomprehensible, we can extrapolate which folder represents what. Assuming you have only booted latest.exe and the exe of the game you want to play, the oldest folder in the directory is "My House" and the newest folder is the game you booted up before.

You may wonder, "how is the game I want to play inside the games directory if the exe file crashed?". My guess is that Zapspot was able to install the game but not boot it? The world may never know.

In any case, make a backup of the newest folder in the directory, then boot up UninstallZapSpot.exe. Afterwards, boot latest.exe again.

Step 4

Now, close Zapspot and navigate to C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\ZapSpot\Games again. Then, copy the backup of the game folder back into the directory and open Zapspot again (if you don't have a Zapspot shortcut icon, go into C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\ZapSpot and open Zapspot.exe from there). You'll be pleasantly surprised to see that the game is installed and runs perfectly. If you want to run more games, repeat steps 1 to 4.

My understanding is that you only need the folders in the C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\ZapSpot\Games directory to run the games. Theoretically, if you had that directory on an old computer but no longer had the original exe files for the games, you can transfer the folders over to your new computer and still run the games.

Help! When I run Zapspot.exe it gives me a black screen and crashes.

Unfortunately, you'll need to uninstall Zapspot and reinstall it again. Make sure you have your folders backed up before doing this.

Isn't there a less tedious way to play Zapspot games?

If there was, I wouldn't be sitting here writing this...

Nonetheless, I hope this guide was clear and helpful. If you have any questions, let me know and I'll try to help. Otherwise, I hope you have fun playing Zapspot games!
